Public Speaking Workshops designed with teens in mind

Calling all teens ages 12-18 interested in learning and developing skills in public speaking, public performances and writing effective compositions that can engage an audience! Come out this Sunday, January 7th from 3pm-5pm at the Pflugerville Library for a writers workshop, followed by a symposium and open mic for all performances..

What is Speak Beat?

Speak​ ​Beat​ ​is​ ​an​ ​innovative​ ​literacy​ ​workshop​ ​that​ ​combines​ ​communications​ ​with​ ​music,​ ​audio engineering,​ ​language​ ​arts,​ ​public​ ​speaking​ ​and​ ​performance​ ​arts.​ ​

How does Speak Beat work?

Speak​ ​Beat​ ​develops confidence,​ ​leadership​ ​skills,​ ​literacy,​ ​goal​ ​setting,​ ​collaboration,​ ​positive​ ​self-esteem,​ ​and empowerment in the speaker.​ ​Speak​ ​Beat​ ​gives​ ​participants​ ​a​ ​voice​ ​to​ ​express​ ​themselves​ ​while​ ​reinforcing areas​ ​of​ ​English​ ​and​ ​Language​ ​Arts,​ ​digital​ ​literacy,​ ​audio​ ​&​ ​video​ ​technology,​ ​and​ ​multimedia applications​ ​used​ ​in 21st-century communication​ ​trends.

Who is Speak Beat for?
Speak​ ​Beat​ ​is​ ​for​ ​all​ ​ages,​ ​yet​ ​programs​ ​and​ ​events​ ​can​ ​be​ ​modified​ ​to​ ​specific​ ​age​ ​groups. Examples of groups include​ ​ages​ ​5-12;​ ​ages​ ​13-17;​ ​ages​ ​5-17;​ ​ages​ ​18+;​ ​ages​ ​18-25;​ ​ages​ ​25+;​ and ​all-ages​ ​events.

Where can I attend a Speak Beat Event?
For the 2018 Spring Semester, Speak Beat Communications will host its teen edition once a month on Sundays from 3pm-5pm at the Pflugerville Library. Each event will consist of a writer's workshop, a Speak Beat symposium, and an open mic where any guest can participate, present, or perform. The events conclude with a social mixer where refreshments will be served.
